Summer Essentials

IMG_9809.JPG

I swear this has been the hottest summer ever so taking care of myself has been a major key of mine! To keep my go-tos on hand, I pack them in my Vera Bradley makeup bag – super cute and the perfect size to fit in my tote.

Skin care: To keep my face clear of break outs and my pores open, I wash my face using Neutrogena Oil-free acne wash and moisturize with Clean & Clear. Once a week, I mask with LUSH’s mask of magnanimity to keep my skin super soft. For the rest of my body, I use Queen Helene’s cocoa butter. It smells great, feels great on your skin and is super helpful for scars and stretch marks!

Makeup:Β Because it’s so hot outside, I have minimized the amount of makeup I wear. After moisturizing my skin, I use Maybelline’s blur and smooth master primer and Black Radiance’s baked bronzer in the color gingersnap. I have found that Black Radiance is amazing for my fellow melanated girls and is a lot cheaper than most brands. I only wear foundation and concealer on special nights out. Like most people, I use Anastasia’s dip brow pomade in the dark brown color for my eyebrows. It’s super easy to use, and the Sephora girls are happy to show you how to apply it. Eye wise, I am absolutely obsessed with glitter, so Revlon’s photo ready eye art has been my FAVORITE! To put my look together, I pick a lipstick color that matches my makeup and outfit, but in the case I’m using a matte color, I make sure to use Burt’s Bees lip balm prior to keep my lips from drying out.

Hair:Β Technically, I’m a naturalista, but I’m an avid weave-wearer (no shame in my game), so to keep my edges snatched, I use Olive Miracle’s edge control. I usually wear Cream of Nature’s edge control, but I decided to try something new for the summer and Olive Miracle hasn’t let me down yet!

Even with all of this, I make sure to drink tons of water to keep my hair and skin flourishing!
